Once we got onto the roof, we found open entry points beneath the tile and an attic with almost no working ventilation. The bats weren't causing the problem. They were taking advantage of one that had been there for years.
So we fixed the roof, not the symptom.
We removed the tile and recycled it instead of sending it to a landfill. We sealed every point where an animal could get back in. Then we designed and installed the balanced ventilation system the roof had always needed before installing a new roofing system built for how that home actually performs.
The bats were the easy part.
The lesson wasn't.
